Biobased and Biodegradable. Biobased Biodegradable
Introducing Mirel Biobased Plastics

Biobased Content using ASTM D6866-08

Determining the biobased content of a material, in our case, bioplastics, the concept is similar to radiocarbon dating but without the use of the “age” equation. To find out the ratio of the amount of radiocardon (14C) in an unknown sample to that of a modern reference standard for radicarbon dating is a NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) standard known as radiocarbon content equilvalent approximately to the year AD 1950.
Standards – Identify & Quantify Biobased Content
  • How does one distinguish between renewable resource and fossil ) carbon, by  identifying the  biobased carbon.
  • How does one quantify biobased carbon content?
Independent third party testing was completed by BETA Analytic Inc. of Miami, Florida.
